Questions, answered plainly

These are the questions homeowners ask Bhumi Interior Studios most often, about what interior design costs in Pune, how long a project takes, what the studio's scope covers, and how a first walkthrough is arranged. The studio quotes after seeing a space rather than before, so the answers below describe what drives cost and duration instead of quoting a figure that could not yet be true.

Cost & time

How much does interior design cost in Pune?
Bhumi Interior Studios does not publish a fixed rate, because the honest answer depends on things only a walkthrough reveals. Four factors drive almost all of the cost: how much bespoke joinery a home needs versus loose furniture, whether civil work touches plumbing and electrical, the material palette, and the number of rooms. We quote after seeing the space, and the quote separates design fees from execution so you can see what you are paying for.
How long does a full home interior project take?
Duration is set by the amount of bespoke joinery and civil work, not by the size of the home. Drawings and material selection run in parallel with each other; fabrication and site work do not. A redesign confined to surfaces, furniture, and lighting moves considerably faster than one that reworks layouts, plumbing, and electrical. We give a phased schedule with the quote, after the walkthrough, rather than a number before it.
Can you work within a fixed budget?
Yes, and it is easier when the budget is stated at the start rather than discovered halfway. A budget mostly determines where bespoke work is spent. We would rather concentrate joinery in the two rooms that carry a house and leave the others simple than spread a budget evenly and finish nothing properly.

Scope

Do you handle execution, or only the design?
Both. Bhumi Interior Studios takes residential projects end to end: walkthrough, drawings, material and finish selection, contractor coordination, site supervision, snagging, and final styling. Drawings are a set of intentions, and the gap between an intention and a finished joint is where a house is won or lost, so we stay on site.
Do you work on 2BHK and 3BHK apartments?
Yes. Apartment interiors are the studio's most common project, particularly in the townships around Hadapsar where floor plans repeat and the detailing has to do the distinguishing. The fixed layout is a constraint, not an obstacle: it moves the work into storage, furniture placement, material, and light.
Do you take on a single room, or only whole homes?
Single rooms are welcome, most often a living room, a primary bedroom, or a kitchen. We will still ask to walk the whole house, because a room designed in isolation from its neighbours reads as an add-on however good it is on its own.
Do you work on bare-shell flats handed over by the builder?
Yes, and a bare shell is the best case. Nothing has to be undone, layouts are still negotiable, and services can be planned rather than worked around. Newer developments in Kharadi and around Hadapsar are frequently handed over this way.
Do you design commercial or office interiors?
The studio is residential. Bhumi Interior Studios designs homes, and the practice is built around how people live in rooms across a day rather than how they work in them. For commercial work we are happy to point you toward practices in Pune who specialise in it.

Working together

Which areas of Pune does Bhumi Interior Studios work in?
The studio is based in Hadapsar and works across east Pune, including Magarpatta City, Amanora Park Town, Kharadi, Mundhwa, Wanowrie, Koregaon Park, and Viman Nagar. Projects elsewhere in Pune are considered case by case, since regular site supervision is part of how the studio works and distance affects it.
How do I start a project with Bhumi Interior Studios?
Write to bhumiinteriorstudios@gmail.com or call +91 93531 80489 and describe the space. The first step is a walkthrough in your home, at the hour you use each room most, which costs nothing and commits you to nothing. A proposal and a phased quote follow from that.

The studio

What is the difference between interior design and interior decoration?
Decoration works on the surface of a room that already exists: colour, furniture, objects. Design works on the room itself, including its layout, storage, services, and light, and treats decoration as the final layer rather than the whole job. Bhumi Interior Studios works from layout outward, which is why a project starts with drawings rather than a moodboard.
What does Bhumi mean?
Bhumi is Sanskrit for earth or ground: the place a home begins. It gives the studio its name and its principle, that a home should hold you the way the earth holds a house.
Who is the designer behind Bhumi Interior Studios?
Karthik Shetty, the studio's founder and interior designer. He founded Bhumi Interior Studios to design homes that hold their ground: rooms built from material, light, and quiet, as nuanced as the lives they carry.
